Group Life Assurance

SUMMARY

A Life Assurance and Disability Benefits Scheme can be established to provide lump sum benefits in the event of an Employee dying in service and/or being temporarily or permanently disabled.

BASIC BENEFIT

Death due to Any Cause Benefit (DAC): bnl will pay under this Benefit the sum assured decided by the Employer if an Employee dies before normal retirement age and during the Policy period.

The payment will be a lump sum.

OTHER OPTIONAL BENEFITS

Accidental Death Benefit (ADB): If death occurs as a result of an accident bnl will pay an additional amount equivalent to the sum assured.

Permanent Total Disability due to Accident or Sickness Benefit (PTD A&S): In case a Member becomes totally and permanently disabled as a result of accident or sickness, bnl will pay the sum assured.

Permanent Partial Disability due to Accident or Sickness Benefit (PPD A&S): In case a Member becomes partially and permanently disabled as a result of accident or sickness, bnl shall pay a percentage of the sum insured as per the Policy Schedule.

Temporary Total Disability due to Accident or Sickness Benefit (TTD A&S): In case a Member becomes totally disabled as a result of accident or sickness, bnl shall pay a benefit of 100% of the Insured Staff Member's weekly pre-disability earnings for as long as such disability continues, subject to such payment limited to no more than 52 consecutive weeks. Payments shall commence 1 week after the date an accident or sickness occurs. No payment will be made retrospectively in respect of this period.

Accidental Medical Reimbursement Benefit: All medical expenses incurred due to an accident, either directly and independently of all other causes from a bodily injury effected through external, violent and visible accidental means within 90 days of such accident, the Company shall reimburse the above defined medical expenses, provided always that the Company's maximum liability in respect of any 1 Claim or series of Claims resulting from the same accident shall not exceed BD700 in respect of any Employee, the treatment is restricted locally at private clinics or private hospitals.

Body Repatriation Benefit: In the event of death of any Insured, this Benefit includes the cost of transport of body/ashes to such Insured's home address in his/her normal country of residence provided that the Company's maximum liability in respect of any 1 Claim shall not exceed BD1,000.

MAIN EXCLUSIONS

Death or disabilities resulting from the following are not covered by the Plan:

  • War or war like operations.
  • Self-inflicted injuries, attempted suicide.
  • Drug or alcohol abuse.
  • Pregnancy or complications thereafter.
  • Breach of law or provoked assault.
  • Certain pre-existing conditions or diseases.
  • Training or participation in hazardous sports or competitions.
